Repairs will need to be made to secure the structure, preventing re-entry and measures taken to remove pests. Trapping and / or exclusionary devices .Recommendations will be made and decisions will need to be made as to coarse of action to be taken .Ending the pest problem. We will evaluate the structure by: #1 known pest pressure. Species and habits. Do we have evidence to determine what pests and where ? Smells, stains, tracks, droppings, hair , type and location of damage . #2 size and location of defects on structure. Possible intruders .by opening size and its location. Bats gaps .25", rats .75", squirrels 1.25", opossum.2.50" ,raccoons 4" plus. #3 investigation to determine. Entry points. Main entry points: determined by evidence. To aid in placement of exclusionary devices to be applied to a opening. Device providing control and effective removal of a known pest. Recommendations: Example. If determined you have bats .We will recommend the entire structure is sealed down below .25 inches and a bat funnel applied to a known entry point. This can be very expensive depending on the condition and size of your home. The bat funnel will not be optional. But you may choose, depending on your budget. To seal the portion of the structure that the bats prefer to inhabit . Habits ! Bats seem to enter in one area of the structure and nest in one area .Likely due to the climate of that particular area. Leaving other parts of the structure vulnerable to re- infestation is not a ideal situation .But if options are to do nothing at all due to the cost. This makes sense. I have had success with partial work solving bat issues in the past. Another example: You may have scratching in your walls or ceiling and witnessed a squirrel entering your home at a particular area.. Inspection reveals several openings that are under 1inch and others slightly larger that show the signs of squirrel damage .We will recommend sealing all these areas ,and a trap door to be placed on a main entry point. Providing a controled exit.Effectively removing all possible rodents. The trap door will not be optional but You may choose to seal just the larger openings and not the smaller 1 inch or less openings. Effectively removing the squirrel, but Leaving home vulnerable to smaller rodents like rats .That may also be present in the structure. Rodents , rats and squirrel habits! They enter from every possible point and will seek out other possible points of entry .Chew through when a weakness is detected and inhabit the entire structure. If all openings are not sealed they will return . There is a saying, I use with rats and squirrels. " if we can't find it , they will" Common sense will be used in your evaluation. We will not recommend needless fortification of the whole structure. Only areas that openings or problems are known to exist .We will advise you to best of our knowledge. Keeping cost to a minimum. Doing repairs in portions ,if need be. Your budget .$ $ $ your decisions.
